This bead kit is a fundraiser for our Fellowships and Stipends Fund, which does a wide variety of work to support the artists on our team, our collaborators worldwide and to host meetings to foster discovery. This summer and fall, we will be starting two academic fellowships (with housing) and providing travel and accommodations for our team to gather to ship books and complete our academic textbook.

The BatCycle is an incredible linkage designed (and possibly discovered) by Claudia Furthner, on our research team. It is similar to a Kaleidocycle, in that it can be built as a turning toy or created larger for a wearable item. It is assembled of Warped Hexagons and Triangles and we have free, bead-by-bead tutorials available on our YouTube channel to learn how to make them.

This lovingly assembled, 110-gram, 16 colour bead kit will give you all of the colours you need to make two complete turning BatCycle linkages like the one Kate will demonstrate during our May Beadalong (and shown in the photos). These kits are optional - the pattern will be published free on our website, and any beads can be used to do the project. Any quality beading thread works as well.

Each colour is a subtle blend of related shades that ensures depth. Beads included are high-quality Miyuki Delicas in a variety of finishes, each of them carefully chosen for durability and beauty. (Wooden butterfly tray for display only, not included with bead kit)

Two packets of size 15 rounds (in two different shades) are included for joining the geometric elements.

Kits will ship out all together on Wednesday, April 21, and our online Beadalong will begin on Saturday, May 1, free to all.
